Built for the jobnobody trainsyou for.
PromotedNext makes practical manuals, tools and guided learning for new supervisors and managers, so you can lead people and handle the everyday parts of the job with more confidence.
My first promotion came at the ripe old age of 16, working for one of Australia’s larger retail chains.
It consisted of being handed the keys and told,
“Congratulations, you’re no longer a checkout operator. You’re now a supervisor.”
That was pretty much the training.
There was no guidance on handling a difficult customer, dealing with an issue between staff, or telling someone what needed to be done. I had a new title, a set of keys and responsibility for situations I’d never been taught to manage.
Being good at your job can get you promoted. But being responsible for other people brings a whole new set of skills—and someone needs to help you learn them.
That experience is at the heart of why I’m building PromotedNext: practical guidance for people stepping into their first leadership role. Help with the everyday conversations, decisions and awkward situations that come with the job.
The manual nobody gave you when they handed over the keys.

What we believe
A promotion needs support.
Being good at the work doesn't mean you've been shown how to lead it.
Useful beats clever.
Every lesson gives you an action, a question to ask, or words you can adapt.
Respect goes both ways.
We focus on behaviour and expectations, and describe everyone fairly.
Know when to get help.
Good supervisors know their limits. We show you where they are.
How we make it
- Examples are fictional or composite, drawn from real kinds of work.
- Sensitive guidance is reviewed by an independent adviser before it's sold.
- We test each title with real new supervisors in a pilot before we build more.
- No employer documents or real employee records, ever.
