Who we are
PromotedNext is run by Gregory Dee (ABN 68 808 554 405), a sole trader based in Brisbane, Queensland. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Gregory Dee trading as PromotedNext.
We respect your privacy and use the Australian Privacy Principles as a guide to how we handle personal information. If you have a question about anything here, email greg@promotednext.com.
What we collect, and why
We collect information you give us through the forms on this site or by contacting us directly. Our service providers also handle some technical information when you visit the site, and information about how our emails are used. Both are described below.
- When you join the pilot or the waitlist: your name, your email address, your workplace if you choose to give it, and whether you’re signing up for yourself or for your team leaders. We use this to contact you about the pilot and, if you go ahead, to send your lessons.
- When you ask to hear about a title that isn’t out yet: the same details. We use them to tell you when it’s ready.
- When you ask for the Week 1 lesson: your email address. We use it to send you that lesson and nothing else. If you also tick the box for PromotedNext news, we’ll add you to our news list and send occasional updates and new-title announcements until you unsubscribe.
- When you send a message through the contact form or email us: your name, your email address and your message. We use them to reply.
- When you have a learner account: see “Learner accounts” below.
We don’t take payment on this site, so we don’t collect card or bank details here. If you join the pilot, Greg will email you the payment details and the terms before anything is charged.
Please don’t send us confidential workplace material. PromotedNext never needs employee records, employer documents or details that identify the people you work with.
Learner accounts
If you take Next: Supervisor, you get a learner account so you can sign in and read your lessons. If a business paid for your place, it gives us your name so we can set the account up.
Your account holds:
- your name, the business or team you’re with if we’ve been told, and your email address if you or your employer gave one
- your learner code, and a scrambled form of the PIN you choose. We can’t read your PIN
- which lessons and weekly tasks you’ve marked as completed, and when you were last active
- the notes you make in your lessons: the actions you tick off, the lines you reword and what you put in the tools.
We use this to let you sign in, to show you where you’re up to, and to keep your notes for the next time you sign in.
What a business sees. If a business paid for your place, we tell that business which lessons and weekly tasks you’ve completed and when you were last active. That’s all. We don’t show it your notes or anything else you type into a lesson.
Your notes are yours. They’re kept so you can come back to them. Your employer can’t see them. Greg can reach the database that holds them in order to run and fix the service, and doesn’t read them unless that’s needed to fix a problem or you ask him to. Please leave out anything confidential about the people you work with.
If you read a lesson without signing in, what you type stays in your browser tab. It isn’t sent to us, and it’s gone when you close the tab.
What the site collects automatically
Like every website, this one receives some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you ask for. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, handles this to deliver the site and keep it secure.
The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated spam. It checks signals from your browser when a page with a form loads. Cloudflare uses those signals to protect this site and to improve its bot detection, not for advertising. You can read Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy notice.
To stop people guessing learner codes and PINs, we keep a count of failed sign-in attempts against the internet address they came from. Each count is only used for 15 minutes.
Cookies and tracking
This site doesn’t use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or analytics that follow you around the web.
When you sign in to a learner account, we set two cookies that keep you signed in. They aren’t used for anything else. They’re removed when you sign out, and unless you tick “Keep me signed in” they go when you close your browser.
We’ve turned off open tracking, so our emails don’t record whether you opened them. They can record which links you clicked, and this is linked to your email address. We use it only to see which lessons people find useful.
Who else handles your information
We don’t sell, rent or trade your information. We share it only with the services we need to run PromotedNext:
- MailerLite stores our sign-up lists and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, receives the forms, forwards email to us and stores learner accounts.
- Google provides the inbox where contact messages and sign-up notes arrive.
If a business paid for your place in a course, we share your progress with that business, as described under “Learner accounts”.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Where your information is handled
These services handle information outside Australia.
- MailerLite says it stores its customers’ data in the European Union. It may also use its own service providers in other countries.
- Cloudflare and Google are United States companies that run data centres in many countries, so information may pass through or be stored in any of them. We’ve asked Cloudflare to keep the learner accounts database in its Oceania region, which includes Australia.
We use well-established providers, share only what each one needs to do its job, and keep what we hold to a minimum.
How long we keep it
- Sign-up, lesson and news lists: for as long as you’re on the list. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you and keep only a record of your email address and the fact that you unsubscribed, so we don’t email you again by mistake.
- Learner accounts, with their progress and notes: until your access to the course ends or you ask us to delete your account, whichever comes first. You can clear your notes on a lesson yourself at any time, from the end of that lesson.
- Contact messages: for 12 months after our last reply, then deleted, unless we need them for longer to deal with a purchase, a complaint or a legal obligation.
- Everything else: when we no longer need information, we delete it or remove what identifies you.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your information: the site uses HTTPS, access to our accounts is protected, PINs are stored in a scrambled form, and we keep what we hold to a minimum. If you share a computer at work, sign out when you finish. No online service can promise perfect security. If there’s a security problem involving your information, we’ll assess it promptly, tell you where it’s likely to affect you, and meet any notification requirements that apply to us.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email greg@promotednext.com.
We may need to check it’s really you before we act. We aim to reply within 30 days. If we can’t do what you’ve asked, for example because we need to keep a record of a purchase or of your unsubscribe request, we’ll tell you why.
Unsubscribing
Every lesson and marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link. Use it and we’ll stop within five working days. A personal reply from Greg won’t have that link, so just reply and ask.
Complaints
If you think we’ve mishandled your information, email greg@promotednext.com and tell us what happened. We aim to reply within 30 days.
If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au for information about your options. Whether it can investigate depends on whether the Privacy Act applies to a business of our size.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
